This is a modern English translation of Galen of Pergamon's On the Usefulness of the Parts of the Body. Galen was a Greek physician of the Roman Empire, who lived during the 2nd Century CE. He is considered a central figure in the history of medicine, and his works formed the basis for medical treatment for centuries after his death. This is the first of two volumes and includes books 1-9. Books 10-17 are in the second volume.
